Best Business Grants for Women in Virginia

The number of women entrepreneurs is steadily growing, but women do not receive the same equity as men. This trend is fueled by the lack of equal opportunities for financing. Some government agencies, non-profit organizations, and private companies are changing this trend. They are offering grants to women for purposes of starting or growing their businesses. Are you a woman in Virginia seeking genuine grants to apply for? Below is a comprehensive list of the best business grants women in Virginia should take advantage of and how to apply for them.

The Amber Grant

The Amber Grant is meant for women business owners both in Virginia and across America. It is given by the Amber Grant foundation to remember Amber Wigdahi who passed on before fulfilling her business dreams. They give grants worth $10000 monthly. There is also an annual grant worth $25000.

Applying is easy. You are only required to give a short brief about yourself and your vision in business. An application fee of $15 is charged after which the winner is announced the first week of every month.

How to Know Which Grant is Best for You?

The best grant opportunity for one business may not be the best for another brand. First, check the mission, vision, and interests of the funder. Ensure you have a substantial similarity of the mission, vision, and interests. For instance, take a case where the funder wants to promote environmental conservation. That grant opportunity is best for brands that are in recycling and renewable energy.

You can also tell the best grant opportunity based on the requirements. However, failure to meet the criteria doesn't mean you don't try. It means that you should not over-invest in such grants. Check out our full guide for women business owners who are looking for grants.
