We're small, but we’re here to make a big impact. We took $5,000 out of our savings to turn the initial idea of Pepper into a successfully funded Kickstarter project. Rather than adopting a growth-at-all-costs mentality that usually requires raising venture capital from the very beginning, we hustled for as long as possible so that we could grow our community the way we wanted. Now, we’re giving that $5,000 back every year in the form of a no strings attached grant. The Pepper Startup Grant is specifically for Black women business owners, a dynamic group that has been systematically disenfranchised when seeking to acquire the necessary venture capital funding to expand their businesses. We’re here to change that.

Through our partnership, we have been able to provide over 2 million dollars in grants to black-owned businesses. These grants are available to both existing and startup businesses. Our collective intent is to ensure financial support and other resources to sustain long-term business health and success. Because this is about more than saving restaurants; it’s about preserving Black culinary culture today and into the future.

Applications are now being accepted for the Publish Her Business Impact Grant (BIG) program for women of color business owners. With support from community partner BankCherokee, Publish Her will award a $5,000 grant to a woman of color whose business is making a difference in the lives of others and the world.
The application process begins in June and goes through August. Ten qualifiers will be selected and highlighted by Publish Her and BankCherokee during the month of September, and the public will have an opportunity to vote for the winner. The grant will be awarded in celebration of National Women's Business Owners Month in October.

The HerRise Micro-Grant provides financial assistance, with the help of our corporate sponsors and donors, to Women of Color creating innovative solutions that impact their community and that are often unable to secure funding for their small business. Each month a $1,000 micro-grant will be awarded to a small business owner.
Small business grants are useful for financing a particular small business need. Past recipients used their growth grants for computers, equipment, marketing materials, software purchase, website creation and more

The TRANSFORM Business Grant supports entrepreneurs in systemically oppressed groups. Each grantee receives $1,000 to invest in their business or business idea. Grantees also participate in a customized, year-long business strategy and development program.
The TRANSFORM Business Grant is designed to support individuals in systemically oppressed groups who are making social impact and demonstrate financial need. The National Black Business Pitch (NBBP) is a competition designed to connect Black-owned businesses to corporations who seek to expand and diversify their supply chain with new products and services.
Through the National Black Business Pitch we are seeking to do more than provide a seat at the table, but to open doors and build relationships that can lead to long-term and sustainable contracts. Our ultimate goal is to create a Black business network that corporations can access and do business with.

All grant applicants are required to submit a one-page document indicating how they intend to use the grant funds and how this will help their businesses. In alignment with the Square mission of economic empowerment, we began the Black Equity Grant Program to support the growth of Black developers after recognizing that many technologies founded by historically underrepresented communities were also underresourced, lacking the necessary funding and resources to build on Square. This program will provide Black-led platform partners with both financial support as well as increased exposure and visibility.
Selected grant awardees will be chosen to receive this grant on a first-come, first-serve, basis. If for any reason any of the chosen grant awardees is unable to accept the grant, an alternate grant awardee will be chosen, as remaining grant funds allow.

Funds are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Your business must meet the following requirements to participate in the Black Business Fund Support. The Black Business Fund can support your business through free business internet, grant funding, or free business consultations if awarded.
Your business must meet the following requirements to participate in the Black Business Support Fund Grant program:
- You must be a new or current small business customer within our service area;
- Your small business must be black-owned and have 25 or fewer employees;
- You must not be currently engaged in bankruptcy proceedings;
- Your small business must not be a: non-profit organization, Wine & spirits, check-cashing agency, gun shop, pawn shop, cannabidiol (CBD) stores or adult entertainment business; and
- You may not apply on behalf of multiple small businesses or receive multiple awards.
If awarded a Black Business Support Fund Grant, you must maintain compliance with these eligibility requirements during the 12-month grant term; failure to maintain compliance may result in termination of a Grant Award and repayment of the award, in whole or in part.
